Ron Ousky Shares Knowledge With MCT

Looking for a chance to chat with one of the titans of the Collaborative movement?  Want a chance to hear some of the most experienced Collaborative practitioners talk about how to become a better professional?  Then join us on Fridays for our Happy Hour!

This past Friday, Ron Ousky graced us with his presence.  We spoke to Ron about his defining the attorneys in a Collaborative matter as “aligned.”  Ron gives such great perspective on how we should handle ourselves in a Collaborative matter.  He believes that by calling the attorneys the aligned professionals, it distinguishes the difference in the role of the attorney versus the roles of the neutrals to the clients.  Ron follows the same mantra as my friend Charlie Jamieson who teaches attorneys that their role in the Collaborative process is to keep their clients engaged and, in the process, while the neutrals do their job.

Our Happy Hour brings new perspectives to even the most seasoned professionals.  We learned from Ron that in Minnesota they do not rely as much on the mental health professional (coach) to facilitate team meetings.  Instead, they look to the financial professional to run the meetings.  After hearing us talk about how many of us use a team approach between the financial and mental health neutrals to facilitate team meetings and the entire process, Ron was intrigued.

We all have so much to learn from each other!
