What Have You Done Collaborative Today?

My Collaborative Team members have been presenting to groups across North America about marketing the Collaborative Process and how professionals can generate more Collaborative matters in their communities. So often we hear the same struggles about professionals having issues convincing both the public and professionals to utilize the Collaborative Process. It is not always an easy task and in fact it is something that almost all Collaborative Professionals can relate to. At one point or another almost every trained Collaborative professional had skepticism, curiosity, doubt, and questions about the Collaborative Process. Those skepticisms included wondering if couples really could work in an amicable way to divorce. The doubts included wondering if you would ever find your way onto a Collaborative team. The questions arose about affordability and if you could make as good of a living helping people outside of a courtroom. One thing that is a promise, is that all these questions have been answered. Have you done your part to seek out those answers?

Since our inception, My Collaborative Team has preached the importance of confidence and competence, and if you have been following along you will notice we have added another “c” to our rotation. Commitment! How committed are you to answering the skepticism, curiosity, doubt, and questions you have? How committed are you to empowering yourself with the information and knowledge needed to have the confidence and competence to properly speak about the Collaborative Process?

This blog is not meant to question anyone’s commitment or work ethic. It is simply to help you think about the things that may truly be holding you back from generating as many Collaborative matters as you wish. Whether you have ten active Collaborative matters, or you have yet to conduct your first Collaborative matter, it is important to ask yourself…what have you done to be Collaborative today?
