The Role of the Financial Neutral – A Roundtable Discussion

The Role of the Financial Neutral – A Roundtable Discussion

Recently, I attended a fantastic presentation by Cathleen Collinsworth of Southern California about the role of the financial neutral in the Collaborative Process.  What struck me most were both the similarities and the differences that the role of the financial neutral takes on depending upon where you are practicing.

My Collaborative Team has put together a roundtable of our financial neutrals to continue this discussion and to visit those similarities and differences in how we perform as financial neutrals.  Join us on March 23 at 3:00 Eastern for this exciting presentation.

Don Morris of Columbus, Ohio will start us off with what they are doing in his community.  “Ed, I have seen in our Collaborative group locally, a discussion around the formal group of four professionals vs. a modified version using the Financial Neutral and Coach as needed.”  Don will present the pro and cons to these two styles.

Then we will hear from Ken Klabunde of Cincinnati who will touch on the "financial first" approach being utilized in Cincinnati -- where the financial neutral is on the team right from the start and brings consolidated financials to the professional team before the second meeting, and presents the financials at the full second meeting, setting the unified framework for identifying issues and options as the matter progresses.

David Smith of Panama City, Florida will then talk about the "emerging" role of the Financial Neutral in Collaborative Life Planning / Collaborative Marriage Planning matters.  This is an exciting way to utilize the Collaborative Process in a positive way.

Michael Lehner from New Jersey will discuss how business valuations are handled in the Collaborative Process.  What do we do differently?  Should the financial neutral prepare valuations?

Finally, Cathleen Collinsworth and I will add our two cents to the discussion.  Do we agree with our presenters?  Do we do it differently?  What works best for us?

And, of course, we will answer all of your questions.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW for this dynamic presentation.
