Personal Goal Setting

Personal Goal Setting

Last week at the MCT Collaborative Introductory Learning Program our presenters talked about the importance of personal and professional goal setting and how to measure success. All four professionals that spoke shared the details and stories of their journey and while they each faced different struggles, they all shared several underlying themes.

In keeping with My Collaborative Team preaching the value of commitment to the process, all of our presenters expanded on what that commitment means. One of the most important parts of being committed to the process is controlling the marketing message your practice or firm presents to your community. Each presenter shared not only the value they found in controlling their own message, but the increase in referrals from those in their community who now had a clear understanding of the way they practice. Their message showed their commitment to helping families peacefully and out of court, removing any confusion over if they will or will not litigate in court.

Additionally, all four of our presenters spoke about the transition period from being a litigator to a peacemaker and for each of them it was not a switch that was flipped overnight, or even within months. The commitment to the process and transition to being a successful peacemaker is one that takes years and is often never fully completed as we continue to learn how we can best help families during these toughest of times.

When all is said and done, becoming a peacemaker is not always an easy goal to accomplish. However, with the right commitment and setting realistic goals with ways to properly measuring your success, the ability to pay your bills and be a successful problem solver and peacemaker without going to court is an attainable goal.
