Guided by our Ethical Standards

Guided by our Ethical Standards

From the desk of My Collaborative Team President, Edward S. Sachs, ACP

One thing becomes quite apparent during our Friday Happy Hour discussions.  While we learn that Collaborative Practice is different all-over North America, the one thing binding us all together in the underpinnings of how we practice are the IACP Ethical Standards. It is rare that an issue is raised, and we don’t refer (usually through Jeff Wasserman) to the Ethical Standards. The Standards in Section 1.3 guide all Collaborative professionals to always place the interest of the clients above their own personal, financial or professional interests. It is in Section 3.4 that we accept responsibility to manage the Process effectively. And so on…..

Studying the Ethical Standards should be a paramount part of our learning process.  This Thursday June 27th at 1 p.m. Eastern the IACP will be presenting “Do The Right Thing: Ethical Dilemmas in Collaborative Practice.” We urge all MCT members and friends to attend. Register here for the upcoming presentation.

We are excited to announce that the MCT Advanced Training will continue on July 25th at 1 p.m. Eastern.  Our topic will be Reaching Diverse Markets for a Thriving and Profitable ADR Business. This session will be presented by Shawn Weber, an attorney from Solano Beach California.  Shawn recently presented to CPCal at their annual conference and was a big hit. His session will not only enlighten attorneys, but will provide great guidance to Collaborative neutrals about making the paradigm shift to an all ADR practice. This workshop focuses on tried and true marketing principles to help you grow your business by reaching people needing our services from diverse communities and backgrounds.
