Everyone Fits in the Collaborative Process

Everyone Fits in the Collaborative Process

Written by My Collaborative Team President Edward S. Sachs, ACP

My biggest takeaway from our September Introductory Learning Program was shared by Zanita Zacks-Gabriel when she said that if you walk the walk and talk the talk then making Collaborative cases becomes easier. You need to have confidence in what you are teaching your potential client.

During the Learning Program and over the past few weeks at our Happy Hours we have been talking about how to assess your potential client during your initial consultation.

We should not be assessing whether our clients would be good fits for the Collaborative Process.  EVERYONE is a good fit for the Collaborative Process. Your initial and on-going assessments of your client should be what challenges might your client and their spouse bring to the Process. If they seem to be a square peg and don’t quite fit in the round hole of the Process, then the team must work to shave the corners and help the peg fit.

There are two excellent avenues for gaining the competence and confidence you need to making cases easier. First, join My Collaborative Team. We promise to provide you with opportunities to build your confidence and competence. Second, attend the upcoming IACP Forum in Orlando, Florida. The confidence you will gain from peers from all over the world will be invaluable.
