Lawyers should not be the only source for Collaborative cases. Educate your colleagues and turn them into referral sources for Collaborative cases.
I am addressing Collaborative neutrals. I don’t believe we do enough to generate cases.
On our Happy Hour call Dr. Sheila Furr, a Collaborative facilitator in Florida, mentioned that she recently spoke to a group of psychologists who knew nothing about the Collaborative Process. The reception she received was overwhelming. They were excited to hear about this peaceful Process. Now they will have another tool to offer their clients who are considering divorce.
We cannot become complacent in our efforts to build a referral network. Financial neutrals should be speaking to their financial colleagues and to financial and investment advisors. We need to educate the professional world beyond just the legal profession.
We should embrace allied professionals. They are not only excellent additions to the Process itself, but they can also be invaluable at helping to build referral sources for the Collaborative Process.
So I encourage you to get back to grass roots education and promotion of the Collaborative Process to those people you work with and know the best, your professional colleagues.
