How to Share the Knowledge and Skills You Have

Written by My Collaborative Team President, Edward S. Sachs, ACP

One of my marketing mantras is that competence and confidence is the path to making more Collaborative matters. The more you understand any topic, the better you are able to speak about it. One of the easiest ways to build your competence, and ultimately confidence, is to write a blog and get published.

My number one piece of advice for writing blogs is that you are not writing a legal doctrine or a master’s thesis.  A blog can be as simple as putting into words some thoughts and perspective about an issue you have had in a prior case that was interesting. You can write about a problem that occurred on a Collaborative matter you had, plus an explanation on how you and the team tackled that issue. Or maybe you didn’t tackle the issue and you are seeking advice. Put it in a blog! You don’t have to be teaching, simply just raising the issue and seeking feedback can help lead you to the answers you need and help you grow your competence.

Many of my blogs are nothing more than me writing down the answer to a question that I may have been asked. Writing out the answer, or your thoughts to a question you have been asked, will amplify the amount of people who see your response and grow your Collaborative competence and confidence. Other examples are blogs that can just be simply experiential. Something happens in a Collaborative matter and I take no more than five minutes just to write a short blurb about the experience.

I promise, It can be that easy!

I encourage everyone to write about Collaborative. It is the best way to get the word out and grow your confidence and competence about speaking about the process.  If you write a blog and aren’t sure what to do with it, send it to My Collaborative Team. We will be happy to publish it to our more than 15,000 person audience!
