On this holiday celebrating the great Dr. Martin Luther King I wanted to share a few quotes that might just apply to our Collaborative practices.
While many of us work hard every day to promote the Collaborative Process, there are still too many litigated family matters in our world. But Dr. King would suggest we be patient.
“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle”
Change, mostly the positive kind, isn’t something that will inevitably happen without any effort towards it. Change takes work, time, and practice to achieve the outcome you’re looking for.
And as we work so hard to become better Collaborative Professionals I share this King quote.
“Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.”
This reminds us that not everyone likes to engage in critical thinking. Average people will always strive to find the easiest solution to an issue. While that’s not something to be dismissed, there’s magic in being able to stretch your logical thought process and build creative alternatives.
That to me, best describes a Collaborative professional. We create magic building creative alternatives.
Happy MLK to all of you!
Thoughtful, much to think about and practice. Thanks
