As I sit in on presentations across the country and chat with Collaborative Professionals from many different communities, I am often left with questions to ponder and one from this last week’s Happy Hour has carried with me throughout the weekend. When it comes to your professional and personal life, where does the paradigm shift begin and end? Many times, when lawyers, financial professionals, and mental health professionals are “off the clock” people can still feel as if these professions define your everyday personality. As one mental health professional put it, any time they give a friend or family member advice, it is often seen as coming from a mental health professional and not simply advice from a family member or friend.
If our professions are going to define the way we are perceived in our personal lives it has me wondering where does the paradigm shift truly begin, at home or at the office? If you want to create more Collaborative cases for those who come to your office, do you have to start thinking and acting more collaboratively in your everyday life? The mood of our work environment often reflects on to the mood of our home life, but if we start to make the adjustment in our mood and attitude in our home life, can we change the mood and attitude in our work environment?
One thing all Collaborative professionals can agree on is the paradigm shift is an ongoing transformation. I encourage those with curiosity about the paradigm shift to register today to join us, February 24, 2022 at 1pm EST, for our next Collaborative Introductory Learning Program session as we welcome Kevin Scudder and Chris Arnold to chat with us about Making and Maintaining the Paradigm Shift. This program is free and open to anyone who wants to join us. We encourage you to pass along this open invitation to anyone you feel may be interested in joining us.
