Description:

My name is Lacy Smith and I am a divorce and family law attorney. I was born and raised in New Orleans. I went to Ben Franklin high school and James Madison University in Virginia. After college I returned home to attend Tulane University Law School. I met my husband in New Orleans and we live in Mid-City with our daughters and cat.

After law school, I cut my teeth at a boutique family law firm working for one of the most experienced divorce attorneys in New Orleans. While there, I learned the in's and out's of divorce and family law and represented clients at the district court, appellate court, and the Louisiana Supreme Court level.

I believe in the efficiency and effectiveness of collaborative divorce and mediation. I think that an agreement prepared by the parties will leave them more satisfied than an order rendered by a judge who doesn't know the couple or their children. However, I recognize that collaboration and mediation don't fit the needs of every couple or family.

When it comes to litigation, I think that attorneys should be zealous advocates first, but reasonable negotiators when appropriate. I think that attorneys should answer their client's questions promptly and honestly. I think that the most successful attorneys are those who are most prepared; who know the facts unique to their client's circumstances; and who can apply the current law to those facts. I apply that philosophy to each client.

I only practice divorce and family law. When you hire me, you get me - not an associate attorney or paralegal who you've never met. I will personally give your case the time and attention it needs and get things done as efficiently and quickly as possible; without sacrificing results.

If there is something that I can help you with, or if you want to explore your options, contact me and we can set up a time to meet.
