2024 Advance Training Series

In 2024 My Collaborative Team is back for our Advance Training Series. This year our theme focuses on the importance of the neutral professionals in building the best team dynamics. We will learn the best techniques for assembling a Collaborative team and how to best utilize the neutral professionals including different ways to integrate them into the Process. Our sessions will take place on the 4th Thursday of every month, typically at 1pm EST unless otherwise noted.

This Advance Training Series is free and open to all My Collaborative Team members. Each session will run 55-mins and will include one CLE credit for all who attend. CEU credit will be available for a small additional processing fee. Single-session attendance will be available for a fee to those non-members interested in joining the training.

Building a Personal Brand in the Collaborative Space

This presentation is an advanced training session designed to help Collaborative Professionals define, develop, and strengthen their unique brand identities. This session will guide participants in identifying their core values, honing their brand voice, and crafting key messages that resonate with clients. Attendees will also learn practical strategies for establishing thought leadership, creating cohesive visual identities, and leveraging marketing efforts to grow their practice while fostering a supportive Collaborative community. Empathy in Marketing for Collaborative Professionals

Understanding Personality and Team Dynamics in Collaborative Practice

Effective Collaborative Practice requires healthy team dynamics. While you may not always be able to hand-pick your team members, the more you understand the personalities involved, the more you’ll be able to predict and manage your team’s dynamic. Learn about nine universal cross-cultural personality types, each with its own perspectives and strategies. Settlement- A Four-Legged Approach to Successful Resolution

Session 006: August 22, 2024 - 1-2:30pm EST

The ultimate goal of Collaborative Process is the consensual resolution of the dispute. Settlement is a dynamic process and requires a convergence of various elements. This workshop will present a methodical four-step approach to achieving a successful resolution. The four legs are: Presparation, Parties, Plan, and Process. The Collaborative team members share responsibility for the process, and each team member brings varied skills and perspectives to the settlement process. This four-step approach clarifies the teamwork, skills and dynamics necessary for successful and durable resolution.

How do we make a conscious effort to acknowledge and honor difficult situations and emotions in Collaborative Process? Healing the hurts of our clients while working with them to accept that we cannot change what caused them pain is often a challenge and can impede the Collaborative Process. Learn strategies to help clients consider forgiveness of themselves and not necessarily the individual who caused the pain. Radical acceptance is a helpful tool to lead Collaborative professionals and clients away from suffering and judging to acknowledging emotions.

These individuals, characterized by traits associated with personality disorders, possess a propensity to dominate, control, or hijack collaborative endeavors, presenting significant challenges to effective teamwork and consensus-building.

Through a combination of theoretical insights and practical strategies, participants will learn how to identify the signs of emotional predation within group settings. They will explore nuanced techniques for establishing boundaries, fostering a culture of respect, and mitigating power struggles that can derail collaborative efforts.

Tips and Techniques to Bring Your Client’s Spouse into the Collaborative Process

Session 003: March 28, 2024 - 1pm EST

Do you feel like you are hitting a roadblock in creating Collaborative matters?  Sure, you can convince one spouse, but how the hell do you get the other spouse on board?  In this interactive 90-minute workshop, learn from one of the most experienced Collaborative Attorneys in Florida on specific techniques he uses to enroll the other spouse.  Topics addressed will include dual, interdisciplinary, and full team consultations; tailoring a message and method to the other spouse; and crafting a Collaborative model to fit the family rather than trying to squeeze the family into a Collaborative model.  As part of this workshop, you will also get sample scripts and communications to immediately put to use in your own practice.

Collaborative Practice Starting in the Middle!

An effective Collaborative Process aims to include all professional team members from the outset, and this remains a supportive and highly effective approach. However, if we're being honest, this approach has struggled to take off in many parts of the world. Many mediators, collaborative neutrals - and even collaborative lawyers - meet clients every day who are resistant to getting lawyers involved, and many lawyers face resistance to including other professional team members. Far too often, no amount of education or "selling CP" will soften that initial resistance.
